Gonzaga is a vibrant typeface that updates the classic Clarendon slab serif. Gonzaga is emotional. Not a rebel, but definitely not a conformist. An 18 members modern family with steady skeleton and strong voice.
While not directly inspired by Luiz Gonzaga himself, we chose the name “Gonzaga” to evoke a vibrant and sonorous feel.
Gonzaga’s design features clean, contemporary lines, departing from traditional rounded terminals for a more streamlined appearance. Its lowercase letters, such as a, g, k, and z, are lively yet harmonious, bringing a playful rhythm to text.
Gonzaga’s letterforms have excellent appearance in small sizes, which makes it also a great multipurpose editorial and branding face. It’s equipped with distinctive true italics forms, worth having a separate life. Gonzaga is a powerful typographic tool that can handle various complex print and web identity projects, but also nice logotypes and headlines.
This diverse family spans 18 styles from Thin to Black, in both upright and italic forms. Big set of ligatures, regular, contextual and discretionary. Expert Cyrillic with all local forms, notably the Bulgarian.
Gonzaga is primarily a display typeface. It could be used successfully as a face also for small and medium paragraphs due to the excellent legibility of letterforms and careful spacing and kerning. Gonzaga is destined to be a powerful and expressive identity, headline and poster tool.
