Karelian (Latin) Fonts

The Karelian alphabet, which was adopted by Tver Karelian in 2017, is used to write all variations of the Karelian language. Orthography includes twenty-nine characters, twenty-three of which are from the ISO basic Latin alphabet. The remaining five characters are derived from basic Latin letters with the addition of diacritical marks, and the final character is an apostrophe, which represents palatalization of the preceding sound.

This set of characters is intended to represent the full range of sounds found in native Karelian words, as well as sounds from loanwords that have become a part of the language, such as f in Ludic, c f in Livvi and Tver, and b c d f g z ž in North Karelian.
